OVRC GT3 Series Season 3 Announcement
After weeks of planning and talking between admins and the driver council, the OVRC is happy to announce the OVRC GT3 Series Season 3, following on from the successful GMDRC GT Challenge.
The key changes for this season are the use of 60min races for all rounds and 2x fuel rate, to allow different race strategies, as well as the calendar length being reduced to 6 rounds. The tracks have also changed, with some new ones and a returning track from Season 1. The calendar is as follows:
· 30/04 - Hockenheim
· 14/05 - Sepang
· 28/05 - Zandvoort
· 11/06 - Monza
· 25/06 - Shanghai
· 09/07 - Laguna Seca
We will also be running a Variety Cup, where drivers will have the chance to try out different cars in the weeks between the GT3 races, this is a one-off series and it will help us for future seasons. These races are held at the same tracks as the GT3 Series, to allow people to focus on driving the cars and not having to learn a new track at the same time. The calendar for this is as follows:
· 07/05 - Hockenheim 30min DTM
· 21/05 - Sepang 2x 20min F2
· 04/06 - Zandvoort 2x 20min TCR
· 18/06 - Monza 30min DTM
· 02/07 - Shanghai 2x 20min F2
· 16/07 - Laguna Seca 2x 20min TCR
For both leagues, the race server will be opened at 7pm BST, the practice session will be 60 minutes. At 8pm BST the 25 minutes qualifying session starts, however, as in season 2, cars have to stay in the pits during the drivers briefing (~5 minutes). This means the planned race start is at 8:25pm BST.
