OVRC Season 5

29-12-2018 20:49 (UTC)

We hope everyone had a great christmas and are looking forward to New Years’! Following your amazing feedback from the survey, we are announcing our plans for OVRC Season 5, which will kick off on the 14th of January in the new year:

General changes
The points system is reworked for Season 5, it will now feature increasing points for every position on the grid, details will be in the new rules. In Season 5, we will be changing our rolling starts to a ‘double-file’ version. We will be sticking to the same series format as last season, with two main series alternating on Mondays. The series will be 6 weeks each this Season. Furthermore, we would like to congratulate Marc Whitford for his promotion to an admin, as he will be running our extra series on Thursday, with some *interesting* features.

Porsche GT3 Cup Series
The porsche GT3 Cup car was not far behind the other 2 classes in popularity on the survey and will be one of our main series on Mondays together with GT2. This series will feature two 30 minute races, with a reversed grid for the top 15 of the first race!

GT2 Series
GT2 was the most popular in the survey together with GT4, this series will be the effective follow-up to our successful GT3 Series in previous seasons as our second main series on Mondays. The races will heavily involve pit stop strategies, especially with the two tire compounds that are available for GT2. The race duration will be somewhere between 60 and 90 minutes, the exact number will be determined to get the perfect balance between different strategies.

GT4 Fixed Series
The GT4 Series is an extra series run on Thursdays and will be all about close racing, setups will be fixed, only the driver can make the difference. Speaking of which, this series will involve ‘Success Ballast’ for any driver that is in the top 5 of any of our Season 5 Series. This will be done by requiring those drivers to run a FULL fuel tank for all sessions in the GT4 Series!

We wish you all an early happy new year and we hope to see everyone on track again in 2019!
